R&B Producer, singer & songwriter from South Korea
After spending time in Africa I entered the field of ESL instruction in the beautiful country of South Korea. In 2006, I volunteered my time on the weekends to teach English at Samdong Boys town orphanage in Seoul. One of the kids I met was a 14-year-old Lee Bong Yeon.(Note: Korean names begin with the family name followed by the 1st and second name.) Bong Yeon was already rather advanced in his English language abilities, one of the reasons he was chosen to go on a trip to Europe while in High School.
Bong Yeon had a passion for singing. Often times I would take him and his friends to see a movie and while waiting for the movie to start I would send the kids to the game room with some coins to play video games. While the other kids played various games, Bong Yeon would go to the karaoke machine and sing. As he grew, he learned to play the keyboards and guitar on his own. His abilities were noticed by a professional voice coach who offered to tutor Bong Yeon for free. Unfortunately, the house mother at The orphanage wouldn't allow it.
This didn't deter Bong Yeon. He continued to practice and learn and after graduating high school he attended a local university in Seoul to study music. He eventually transferred to the prestigious college Dong-Ah Institute of Media & Arts (DIMA) in Ansung, outside of Seoul.
In 2015, Bong Yeon had the chance to be in a Korean music show called KPOP Star, season 4 (see above).
After a stellar performance, Bong Yeon went on to a solo career, performing on stage and in the studio, joining other musicians on occasion, and sharing his gift with the world. Below are a few of his English language songs that you may like. His stage name is PaulKyte and you can find him on Apple Music, SoundCloud, Tidal, Spotify, and Youtube.
